ANNIE AND ELLIE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Dear Adoptee Group,

First of all, thank you so much for supporting [Annie and Ellie]. Although they are not biologically related, they were adopted by the [Korean family] many years ago. The couple did not think that the wife could give birth so they decided to adopt only one. But the mother of the wife convinced the couple to adopt another girl. At this point, the husband's business was not doing well. It was thought that the second adopted child brought misfortune to the family. The wife began to abuse the second child by neglecting her. Then, the couple went through an in vitro fertilization and had twins- one boy and a girl. The family has been struggling with poverty ever since, and the wife has been constantly abusing the two adopted children verbally and physically.

The church was able to arrange and support the first child to go to an American school three years ago, and the second child two years ago. Many people in the congregation and the school community felt the need to separate these kids from their adopted family to prevent further trauma.

Ever since they got to the US, their happiness and well being is evident and their host families do a great job of looking out for their needs academically and emotionally. We believe that it is to their utmost benefit that they should pursue studying in the US until they graduate from high school. Again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in these two girls. I hope that they can find light at the end of the journey and become healthy members of society in the future.

We are thankful to the school for giving both girls scholarships but we are short on the host family fee. The leader who committed to support the two girls has stepped down from his commitment. This has been a struggle for the church to raise $14,000 for both girl’s host family fees.

Sincerely,

Pastor Peter
